The Skiddaw Mountain Range just around the corner from my workshop

I'm the third member of my family to establish an Upholstery business following my father and my brother. My father set up J.H.Watson after his "demob" from the RAF at the end of hostilities in 1945 having served his apprenticeship before the war. The firm became J.H.Watson and Son when my brother took over the reins in 1970, when he decided on a career change in 1982 it was my turn and another name change. Living under the beautiful Skiddaw mountain range it seemed appropriate to evolve into Skiddaw Upholstery and I have served the public under that guise ever since. I'm primarily a recovery and repair business, but as one gets older and I see cheap imports destroying our industry I'm delighted to see so many people having a go at traditional Upholstery. I tutored at an adult educational college for a few years at the turn of this century and found my students were having difficulty finding DIY Upholstery Supplies in small amounts, they also sought an experienced Upholsterer who was prepared to give a little advice on how to use the products, from listening to their  comments I decided to create a website selling Upholstery Supplies without any minimum or maximum quantities and to offer advice on the best products for each project.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope I can be of service to you

The following page was given to me by a member of Cumbria Bowling Club taken from Keswick Bowling Clubs centenary brochure in 1982. I traded under my own name for only a couple of months before the change to Skiddaw Upholstery this is probably my very first advertisement
